Learn About Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Overview of the intensive outpatient program at Vantage Point Behavioral Health Hospital in Fayetteville, AR
An intensive outpatient program is a level of care that is more thorough than traditional outpatient services and more flexible than inpatient treatment. It can be ideal for patients who are seeking some semblance of structure as they work toward better health and wellness but want the flexibility to work, attend school, or participate in other activities that help them maintain an independent lifestyle.
Vantage Point’s IOP offers treatment five days per week, Monday through Friday, for three hours per day. The typical length of stay in this program is six to eight weeks, though that can vary depending on an individual patient’s strengths, goals, and progress. Patients may enter the IOP level either directly or by stepping down after completing a higher level of care.
IOP helps patients better understand their diagnoses, manage their symptoms, and process their emotions using therapeutic interventions that provide introspection and the ability to hear from others who are experiencing similar struggles.
If you think that you or a loved one is an ideal candidate for the IOP at our facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas, please contact our admissions team at your convenience. How We Help
Therapeutic modalities in the intensive outpatient program at Vantage Point Behavioral Health Hospital in Fayetteville, AR
At Vantage Point, our intensive outpatient program provides adults with structured clinical support while also allowing them to maintain a healthy, independent lifestyle.
Group therapy is the main means of treatment at our Fayetteville, Arkansas, facility, helping patients understand how they can manage their diagnoses and symptoms over the long haul. This also allows for the building of camaraderie through shared experiences of patients who are struggling with similar mental health disorders or substance abuse concerns.
Group therapy takes place on a daily basis for our patients, who participate in both process and psychotherapy groups. Our highly trained and experienced professional staff, consisting of licensed professional counselors (LPCs), licensed acupuncturists (LACs), licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), and licensed master social workers (LMSWs), administers these sessions, which touch on topics such as life skills and coping skills.
Our IOP also offers individual therapy on an as-needed basis. All therapeutic sessions are rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a form of psychological treatment that addresses unhelpful cognitions and behaviors that result in distress. Research shows that CBT is beneficial in preventing addiction relapse, coping with grief and loss, identifying negative thoughts and emotions, managing chronic pain, and overcoming trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Additionally, IOP patients may receive basic medical care and medication management services. Patients can expect to meet with a psychiatrist within one month of their admission date to better determine the course of their individual needs.
Our general medical care comes from a staff consisting of registered nurses (RNs), medical doctors, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
